Reverend Hugh Cleary CSC

Rev. Hugh W. Cleary, CSC, was the Superior General of the Congregation of Holy Cross from 1998-2010. He has served as the Provincial of the Eastern Province of Priests and Brothers; Novice Director of Holy Cross Novitiate, U.S.A.; Pastor at Our Lady of Good Council Parish, Brooklyn, New York; and the Associate Pastor at Holy Cross Parish, South Easton, Massachusetts. He entered the Holy Cross Novitiate, Bennington, Vermont in 1965, earning his B.A. in English Literature at Stonehill College. He obtained a Master’s degree in Theology from the University of Notre Dame in 1973, prior to his ordination to Roman Catholic priesthood. He also holds a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Loyola University, Chicago. He holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Spirituality from Duquesne University.
