Family Rosary – Philippine Anniversary Celebrations Continue

PhilippinesFamily Rosary – Philippine spreads devotion to family Rosary prayer through their on-the-ground groups that work locally in parishes. These groups, Family Rosary Crusade Units, are led by lay volunteers throughout the Philippines. The Family Rosary Crusade Unit in St. Teresita del Nino Jesus Parish in Quezon City celebrated the 35th anniversary of its formation, February 18.

A Thanksgiving Mass was held organized by the Unit and its president, Raul Mariano. Father Roque D'Costa, CSC, Family Rosary Philippine Executive Director concelebrated Mass with Father Rally Gonzaga, OFM, parish priest and Father Thomas John, CSC.

In his homily, Father Roque acknowledged the efforts of the unit in spreading devotion to Mary and to family Rosary prayer. He explained the role of the Blessed Mother in the lives of the faithful lives and how she intercedes for all through prayer.

Before the blessing, the pastor, Father Rally, expressed his gratitude to the Family Rosary Crusade Unit in his parish as it plays a vital role in their parish life, particularly with the parish’s evangelization efforts. Father Rally also mentioned that through the Crusade Unit’s efforts, the parish has encouraged and seen Philippinesvocations of diocesan and religious priests. He shared his own experiences as a young man when he participated in a “Block Rosary” in his home town in Taytay, Rizal, where they brought the image of the Blessed Mother to different households.

The Family Rosary Crusade Unit at St. Teresita del Nino Jesus Parish was formally launched on February 18, 1977, under the leadership of the then parish priest, Father Juan Gaston, OFM.
