Grand Marian Procession at Los Angeles Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels held Sept. 3

To commemorate the 230th anniversary of the founding of the City of Los Angeles, a “Queen of Angels” parade was held to re-inaugurate this civic birthday with a Grand Marian Procession through downtown to Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral.

For the first 100 years of the city’s history, citizens marked the anniversary of the founding of the city and its dedication to Our Lady of the Angels with a parade. This year the Queen of Angels Foundation, the non-profit organization hosting the event, invited the public to participate in the observance.

Father Willy Raymond, CSC, National Director of Family Theater Productions, was invited to participate in the procession and concelebrate at the votive mass.

“It’s so easy in our day-to-day lives to say ‘Los Angeles’ and forget exactly what that means and who our city is dedicated to,” said Father Raymond. “It was such a joyful event and a beautiful way to remind all of us to honor Our Lady and seek her protection for our city and its inhabitants.”
