News from Family Rosary – India

IndiaThe following beautiful account of Rosary prayer in India was sent to us by Father Sahaya Lourdu Raj, C.S.C. Mrs. Doris William of Kotucherry, Karaikal was kind enough to share her story and send the photos. You may want to try their “thousand beads Rosary” on a feast day in your parish.

God’s Providence was kind enough to bless us abundantly and guide us to form the family thousand beads rosary. The members thought that it would be apt to call the group the “Virgin of Light” Legion.

IndiaA brother by name Babychan from Kerala introduced himself to Sister Gabriel from Tranquebar. The brother’s family makes rosaries and, while making them, they used to recite the Hail Mary for every bead they made. In January 2011, he gave two thousand beads rosaries to Sister Gabriel. Moreover, his family gives rosaries free of cost to their neighbours and friends throughout India to spread the devotion to the Rosary.

The “Virgin of Light” Legion was started in the year 2011 with only four families. Now, by the grace of God, we have twenty-five families coming regularly to pray the rosary every month. The duration of the rosary prayer (100x10) takes about five and a half hours, during which nobody gets up for relaxation.

From April 2013, rosaries are recited for various intentions. In the beginning of the meeting, an introduction is given and someone explains why the rosary is being prayed.

The people who come for the rosary prayer come with confidence that their prayers and requests will be granted. Often some give witness and tell the group how their prayers have been answered.

Hence they prefer to have the rosary conducted in their houses. Since the rosary prayer goes on till 2.45 p.m., the family in whose house the rosary is conducted provide lunch for everyone present. All are very happy to do that in order to honour our Heavenly Queen.

Note: The last rosary prayer was conducted on June 18, 2014. Photos taken during the rosary are enclosed herewith.
