Bible Study

Every Tuesday friends of Family Theater Productionsbible meet at a Bible Study hosted by Father Willy Raymond, CSC., to preview the Gospel for the upcoming Sunday. This week’s readings are for the Third Sunday of Advent. In 2 THES 5:16-24 we are urged to pray ceaselessly. And in St. John’s illustrious pre-Christmas gospel we are urged to prepare for the birth of Christ, who is the Light amid the darkness.

GOSPEL JN 1:6-8, 19-28
A man named John was sent from God.
He came for testimony, to testify to the light,
so that all might believe through him.
He was not the light,
but came to testify to the light.

In this way, Father Willy urged everyone present and those reading this to pray to the Holy Spirit. He suggests reading the Gospel, focusing on a word or phrase that caught your attention and say it aloud. Then if possible share an experience which illustrates your choice and finally say a prayer of promise expressing what you’re called to do in response to the Gospel. As Father Willy says, “Preparing for the birth of our Saviour is a sure way to welcome this most precious gift.”
