Family Rosary Welcomes New Board Members

2/11/2011

We are pleased to announce two new board members have joined Family Rosary. Mrs. Kathleen Lund of Portland, Oregon, to the Family Rosary Board of Directors; and Brother Paul Bednarczyk, CSC, to the Family Rosary Board and also to the Crusade for Family Prayer Board.

Mrs. Lund and her husband Allen are good friends of the Congregation of Holy Cross and supporters of the University of Portland where Allen serves as Chairman of the Board of Regents. Kathleen’s interest in the Family Rosary will be a significant assistance to our mission committee. Kathleen has been a leading advocate in pro-life causes and currently serves as president of The Right to Life League of Southern California. She serves on the advisory board for Sacred Heart Elementary School and is committed to many endeavors benefiting education for inner-city children. The couple established the Lund Family Scholarship that benefits St. Francis High School and Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy students attending the University of Portland. Together they have volunteered countless hours and provided financial support to the Catholic elementary and high schools attended by their six children. The next generation of 22 grandchildren is now enrolled in Catholic schools. Kathleen and Allen have sponsored the Communion breakfast with the Cardinal at the Los Angeles Cathedral for a number of years and Kathie will be honored at the Cardinal’s dinner this year on the February 12.

Brother Paul Bednarczyk, CSC, is attending his first meeting as a Corporate member of both the Family Rosary Board and the Crusade for Family Prayer Board. He is a member of the new Moreau Province of the Congregation of Holy Cross. He has been serving in his position as executive director of the National Religious Vocation Conference in Chicago, Illinois, since 2002. A native of Connecticut, his prior ministries include 12 years of secondary education in Maryland and Rome, Italy, where he was a teacher, campus minister, and administrator, and nine years as vocation director for the Congregation of Holy Cross, Eastern Province of Brothers. Brother Paul was also a member of his Provincial Council, where he served one term as director of formation. He has written a number of articles on religious life and is regularly invited to speak on the topic of vocation ministry.

Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Lund and Brother Bednarczyk to our ministry. We look forward to their participation in further Father Peyton’s vision that the family that prays together stays together.
