The Annual Family Rosary Irish Gala

Submitted by Laetitia Rhatigan, Mission - Albany

Held on Sunday October 2, 2011. A wonderful crowd of supporters turned out for the Annual Irish Gala, held on Sunday, October 2, at the Albany Order of Hibernian Hall. The highlights of the afternoon included irishgalathe music of the Andy Cooney Irish Band, the young dancers from the Mike Farrell School of Irish Dancing and the performance by the Albany Bag Pipe Band. Participants joined in dance and song and many wore their dancing shoes for the various Irish dances such as the Siege of Inis. Prizes were awarded, Irish jokes were related and all seemed to have a great time. Thanks and appreciation goes to the volunteers of the Albany Family Rosary and to the Leonard Family. Many who came to the event knew and spoke of their knowledge and experience of Servant of God Father Patrick Peyton, CSC. At many tables one could find a former student or two from Vincentian Institute or St. Rose College who assisted the Family Rosary Crusade in the very early days. Several of the Sisters of St. Joseph who knew Father Peyton from St. Rose College were also present joining in the Irish songs and dances.
