Pilgrim Children in the Philippines Pray for Mexico

More than a thousand grade 6 students from 20 different Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Manila and members of other Marian organizations gathered together at the Santo Nino Parish in Tondo to pay homage to Our Lady with the praying of the Rosary. Organized by the Manila Archdiocesan Parochial Schools Assocation (MAPSA), the event is part of the A Million Roses for the World Prayer Campaign.

The event opened with street dancing called, Lakbayaw, from the word “lakbay,” which means to journey and “sayaw,” which means to dance. The Lakbayaw was performed by students from the Holy Child Catholic School. The image of Santo Nino was enthroned by the dancers and the Rosary began. The intentions for the Rosary were for Mexico and the prayer was led by the students in Filipino, Spanish, English and Latin.

The prayer campaign, A Million Roses for the World, is encouraging Filipinos around the world to pray the Rosary for world peace. Those participating in the program pledge to pray one Rosary a day for the intentions of a different country each day. Filipinos from around the world can logon and make their pledge anytime through May 30, 2012. For more info:
