Nearly 1,200 High School Students Gather at LA Youth Rosary Rally

Holy Cross Family Ministries once again sponsored a Rosary Rally for students from Catholic schools throughout southern California. More than 1200 students participated in what has become an annual event at Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary High School.

Fr GuffeyThe day began with rousing praise and worship music. The students were quickly engaged with a presentation by Elev8, the fastest growing teen integrity program in southern California. Elev8 combines holistic young artists with teens for positive role models. Elev8 staff use media to inspire, educate and entertain teens to focus on their dreams and avoid risky behaviors. Elev8 was voted one of the best productions at the 2014 LA Religious Education Congress Youth Day.

Archbishop José H. Gomez spoke to the students on “Being About the Work of My Father,” to encourage them to become involved in the faith through prayer and service.

The day continued with Benediction, a Rosary procession and the praying of the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary.

Following lunch, a youth representative from Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary High School gave a witness talk. Noted singer and college professor, ValLimar Jansen gave an interactive talk where the teens needed to participate in the story. Many of the students have experienced ValLimar’s performance at the LA Religious Education Congress. As a university professor, she is skilled at engaging young people.
