Holy Cross Family Ministries Mission Offices Around the World Participate in the Global Rosary Relay

7/22/2014

BeadsOn June 27, the faithful gathered at more than 84 shrines around the world to pray the Rosary for our priests. Marion Mulhall leads the team at World Day for Priests, the group that initiated the Annual Global Rosary Relay. They created and continue to grow participation in this day of prayer. This day of prayer and sanctification was established by St. John Paul II to be celebrated on the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart.

Participants around the world pray a particular set of the mysteries of the Rosary at a particular time. This year’s Relay began in Siberia with the recitation of the Joyful Mysteries. At The Father Peyton Center in North Easton, Mass., USA, more than 40 people gathered on the outdoor Rosary Walk and prayed the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary. From the small Rosary Chapel in UruguaBeadsy to the Blessed Moreau Chapel in Quezon City, Philippines, our mission staff around the world gathered groups in prayer. Ultimately, prayer continued for 24 hours around the globe in 46 countries, including the Vatican where a special intention was offered for Pope Francis. The event received an Apostolic Blessing from Pope Francis and was broadcast live by EWTN with webcams in various locations.

“I heard from local people that could not make it to our center that day that they would be praying from their homes in union with us,” said Father Leo Polselli, C.S.C., Chaplain. “It was a beautiful day to be praying outdoors and a special experience to be part of a worldwide day of prayer. I hope many more can join us next year.”

BeadsThe Rosary prayer at all locations was offered in thanksgiving to God for priests and to ask Mary for her special protection for them.

It’s a small world. The founder and developer of this event, Marion Mulhall, was blessed by Father Peyton when she was merely two days old. No surprise this faith-filled woman has committed her life to spreading devotion to the Rosary.
