Holy Cross Family Ministries

Beth Mahoney, the Mission Director for Holy Cross Family Ministries, Easton, Mass., guides the mission for Family Rosary, which seeks to support the spiritual well-being of the family through prayer, especially the Rosary. This ministry provides opportunities for family members to participate in retreats, conferences, Rosary rallies, parish missions, and days of reflection, all of which Beth plans, and in many cases conducts.

She participates in the mission of all areas of Holy Cross Family Ministries, including the writing of study guides for Family Theater Productions videos and assisting users in the optimum use of the ministries’ products.

Beth has an extensive background in retreat work and public speaking on topics relating to family prayer, family life, and pastoral care concerns. Beth has been a speaker at the National Catholic Educational Conference, various national organizations, and diocesan conventions.

Since August 2000 when she joined Holy Cross Family Ministries, Beth is a twice published author with Ave Maria Press. She authored Grant Us Peace: Rosary Meditations for Those Who Mourn, and edited Pray With Me Still: Rosary Meditations and Spiritual Support for Persons with Alzheimer's, Their Caregivers and Loved Ones. She is the author of numerous sections of the Family Rosary web site.

Prior to her current position, Beth served as a pastoral associate in the Catholic Diocese of Fall River, as a college campus minister and in a shelter for abused women and children. Through her pastoral ministry work, she has gained vital experience in hospital pastoral care, campus ministry work at high school and college levels, and crisis intervention, dealing with suicide and domestic violence.

Beth ministered internationally in Lima, Peru before moving to Chile. While living in Chile, she taught in an elementary and high school, serving as Head of the Religion Department and Campus Minister.

Beth is a member of Spiritual Directors International and enjoys accompanying people on their spiritual journey. Beth served as the chairperson for the Communications Committee for the National Association of Catholic Family Life Ministers (NACFLM) and recently is a member of the conference committee. Beth is a member of the Catholic Writers Guild. She serves as the treasurer for St. Andrew the Apostle Conference of St. Vincent de Paul Society in the Diocese of Fall River. She received the Key to the City of Taunton, Mass., in 1996 from Mayor Robert G. Nunes. In 2011 Beth was named Woman of the Year by the National Association of Professional Women for her demonstration of excellence in her profession.

Beth received a master’s of arts degree in pastoral care and counseling from Boston College, where she also has taken postgraduate courses in theology and canon law. She graduated from Notre Dame College with a bachelor’s of arts degree in history and a certificate in paralegal studies.

A native of New Bedford, Mass., Beth is a loyal Bostonian who cheers for the Rex Sox, Bruins, Patriots and Celtics, enjoys relaxing with friends at a sports game, and spends free time traveling to various parts of the world.
