Chief Financial Officer
Holy Cross Family Ministries
Cindy Slattery is the Chief Financial Officer for Holy Cross Family Ministries, which continues the family prayer and media ministry of its founder, Servant of God Patrick Peyton, the “Rosary priest” and Catholic media pioneer.
As CFO, Cindy takes her responsibility very seriously to insure that Father Peyton’s mission will continue generation after generation by wisely managing a secure endowment in these challenging financial markets with the help of a strong finance committee. She is also responsible for managing annual operating funds and directly involved in the budget approval process for all departments of all the member ministries. Assisted by a team of three, she is responsible for the payroll, administering all company benefits and tax deductions for approximately 35 employees and for managing the accounts payable and receivable functions.
Cindy also maintains responsibility for the international grants to the 16 locations of Family Rosary around the world. With the CAO, she shares responsibility for Human Resources. Cindy oversees the production of annual audited financial statements for each of the Holy Cross Family Ministries legal entities.
She had taken a hiatus from her career and was at home raising small children for almost 3 years when she got a call from a former colleague from her previous employer Thomson Financial Services, Boston. He was filling in temporarily as the CFO for Holy Cross Family Ministries and recruited her in 2002 to be a permanent replacement at the international headquarters close to her home.
At Thomson Financial Services, a leading provider of information and software to the financial industry, Cindy held positions of increasing responsibilities during her seven-year tenure in New York and Boston. In her last position, Director of Finance of the Technical Data division, she was responsible for strategic planning, budgeting, financial reporting, contract administration and some human resource functions.
Prior to that, she worked for four years for The Trepp Group in New York City, a boutique Wall Street firm that structured asset-backed securities.
Thus, the CFO position at Holy Cross Family Ministries is very well-suited to her business and financial skills, which she is able to use in ministry, helping meet the spiritual needs of families worldwide.
Cindy has a bachelor’s of science degree in economics with a concentration in finance from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
Originally from Easton, she and her husband have three children. She loves to be with her family, including going to the beach and watching her children in their various sports and other activities. She enjoys cooking and entertaining family and friends. Cindy and her family are members of St. Mary’s Church in Norton, Mass., where she has taught religious education for many years.
