In conjunction with the ongoing prayer campaign, A Million Roses for the World, of Family Rosary – Philippines, the mission staff in Bangladesh have conducted several events this spring joining that campaign.
At St. Joseph's Church at Radhanagar, Dinajpur, they celebrated the Feast of St. Joseph, the Worker with a Novena to St. Joseph and Rosary Prayer.
During the Triduum, they prayed the Rosary for the different nations of the world; and on May 1, they prayed the Rosary twice in community with the people of the Philippines for the intention of the people of Poland and for peace and justice in that country.
Father Parimal Pereira, CSC, shared his reflection on the Feast of St. Joseph, the worker, saying, “Today the Church marks the memorial of St. Joseph the Worker and the dignity of man lies in his ability to engage in some meaningful and fulfilling work. Man has a vocation to do work. It is by working that men and women realize their fullest potentials.”
Father Parimal continued, “St. Joseph fulfills his task through his work as a carpenter. Jesus is rejected because people associated him with a carpenter. By rejecting Jesus and his teaching, they failed to obtain his divine blessings because of their lack of faith. Prejudice and stereotyping are obstacles to divine healing.”
“Today's feast could be a good beginning: he is not Joseph the faded, the intellectual, the weak; he is Joseph the Worker. He is our example and inspiration in our daily work.”
The multi-faceted event brought people of all ages together, day and night, to share their faith and pray for their brothers and sisters around the world.
