It’s an Oscar nod, a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Lifetime Achievement award for two actors who’ve been showcased in Family Theater Radio programs!
Demián Bichir has been nominated for an Oscar after recently being awarded by the Screen Actors Guild. Demián appeared in Family Theater Production’s Superémonos en Familia I.
His Oscar nomination is for Best Actor. Demián will be up against George Clooney, The Descendants; Jean Dujardin The Artist; Gary Oldman, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy; and Brad Pitt for Moneyball. He’s in very good company! And according to the LA Times, If Mexican-born Demián wins the lead actor Oscar for his work in A Better Life, he will be the first Latino to do so since José Ferrer took a statuette for 1950’s Cyrano de Bergerac.
Lupe Ontiveros has won a National Association of Latino Independent Producers or NALIP Lifetime Achievement Award. Lupe gets the honor for her new series ¡Rob!
is a comedy about a lifelong bachelor who just married into a tight-knit Mexican-American family. Lupe plays the role of the grandmother, “Abuelita”. Lupe has been in many of Family Theater Productions Voz Latina radio shows (dramas and PSAs). She also appears in The Eggplant Lady. She is best known for her work in the movie, As Good As It Gets (Academy Award winning film with Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt). ¡Rob! airs on Thursdays at 8:30pm/7:30c on CBS.
