"To share with families of the world that peace, the prayer, the love and the togetherness I experienced in the Rosary home, would be my thanks. This would be my mission. This would be my priesthood’s power and energy. And so was born the Family Rosary Crusade."

March 2006

Dear Folks,

The Holy Cross Family Ministries annual Pilgrimage Tour will take place from August 28 to September 7, 2006.

Please examine our itinerary. We will once again visit the home parish of Servant of God Father Patrick Peyton, CSC, and the Father Peyton Centre, which memorializes him. The term “Servant of God” is used concerning Fr. Peyton now because his cause for sainthood has been introduced. Fr. Peyton worked tirelessly to encourage the strengthening of families through the daily praying of the family Rosary. The Shrine of Our Lady of Knock is another highlight. We will also visit the Giant’s Causeway, the Cathedral of St. Patrick in Armagh, and Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine in Moneyglass, County Antrim.

As usual, Mass will be celebrated each day in a different Irish church and the Rosary will be prayed on the bus. Bring along your special intentions, because we will complete a novena of Rosaries asking Fr. Peyton’s intercession. And bring along some friends who might like to get familiar with Fr. Peyton’s story, and the continuation of Fr. Peyton’s ministry in Holy Cross Family Ministries.

New this year will be visits to Crough Patrick, the penitential mountain, Achill Island and Westport city. These sites provide insight into the fascinating history of the island. A train trip through the bog in Shannonbridge should also prove interesting and informative.

I look forward to sharing this blessed time with you.

In Jesus and Mary,

Rev. John Phalen, CSC, President
Holy Cross Family Ministries
