April 16, 2009
The Brazilian community from Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton held a two-day retreat at the Father Peyton Center, Easton, Mass., March 28 and 29, with the parish’s parochial vicar, Father Roberto de Rezende. A Brazilian priest on loan to the Archdiocese of Boston to minister to the Portuguese community, Father De Rezende was interviewed at the retreat by a reporter from the Brazilian Apostolate.Father Leo Polselli, CSC, Chaplain of the Father Peyton Center, told the retreatants in Portuguese about Father Peyton and that Holy Cross Family Ministries is sponsoring a year-long observance of the 100th anniversary of his birth. He announced to them that one of the activities will be a Family Rosary Fest at the adjacent Stonehill College stadium on June 6.
Also, on March 28, Father Polselli conducted a retreat at the center for 20 members of Connected Catholics, a ministry for single, widowed, separated and divorced Catholic men and women over 40. He showed them the instructional segment of Family Theater Productions’ new Rosary Stars: Praying the Gospel DVD and he led the group in praying the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary. At nearby St. Joseph’s Chapel, he led them in the Stations of the Cross.
A neo-catechumenate group from Our Lady of Assumptions parish in East Boston also visited the center over that weekend.
