'Rosary Stars: Praying the Gospel' garners large ‘fan’ base on Facebook

Family Theater Productions’ "Rosary Stars: Praying the Gospel DVD" has its own face in the world of social networking – its own Facebook page, that is. The page has generated a lot of interest and activity – more than 55 postings and 460 “Facebook fans,” people who have designated themselves as such on the page.;)
The DVD, which premiered Feb. 7, features 21 young adult celebrities – champion athletes, actors, film directors, authors/lecturers and TV hosts – praying a decade of the Rosary and reflecting on its importance in their daily lives. It also features an animated, detailed learning segment and a historical timeline

The Facebook page already had garnered a lot of activity when Catholic Digest ran a substantive article on "Rosary Stars" in its October 2009 issue. A flurry of activity on the Facebook page followed. A few samplings are: • “I’ve always struggled with the Rosary; so maybe this will help.” – Kathleen Graham.
• “So wonderful to know that stars can inspire our young people to pray the Holy Rosary.” – Myrthala C. Bringuel
• “Got a copy of Catholic Digest yesterday. Am so glad to find this site! This will help me to love the Rosary more.” – Violee Escalona Montenegro.
• “How exciting so many great Catholics are on it … .” – Raissa Federline
• “It is very nice to see that some celebrities have a strong belief system they are not ashamed of.” – Lila Fillmore
In response, Family Theater Productions posted a note on the “fan” page that in its February issue Catholic Digest also featured Rosary Stars Immaculée Ilibagiza, a survivor of the 1994 Rwandan genocide and author/lecturer, and actor Matthew Marsden ("Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen"). The message also noted that the DVD could be ordered at www.rosarystars.org. The note was sent to the page’s 460 “fans,” and thus, showed up on the homepage feed to its “fans.”
Also, a paragraph was sent as an update e-mail to all the “fans” about Rosary Star Mike Sweeney, an All-Star Major League baseball player, being featured in Family Theater Productions’ "Faith Bowl III" that will air on several Catholic television outlets in conjunction with Super Bowl XLIV on Feb. 7, 2010.
