… A Minute Meditation

May 21, 2010

The Old Testament presents God as the Creator of all, whose power was revealed in all the forces of nature, especially in the storm clouds that settled over the mountains and shook the earth with thunder and lightening.  The glory of God, therefore, was the manifestation of his supremely powerful presence (Ex 24:16+).

Jesus, however, revealed God to us as a gentle and merciful Father.  The perfection of a Father’s love is not revealed in his power but in his tenderness and compassion for his children.  The perfection of God’s compassion was revealed when he sent his son to die for us when we were still sinners.  Christ told us to be compassionate as our heavenly Father.  This is why we too glorify God and manifest the power of his presence in us by the love and compassion we show to one another.
