… A Minute Meditation

October 9, 2009

In the Gospels Mary is presented as the model for all Christians.  She accepts God’s will for her humbly and wholeheartedly at the Annunciation.  She waits patiently for God to make known to Joseph the mystery of her pregnancy.  Bearing the Son of God within her she hastens to help her elderly cousin Elizabeth in the last three months of her pregnancy.  Mary has her own baby in the simplicity of a manger cave.  At the foot of the Cross she hears Jesus say, “Woman, this is thy son” and to John, “This is thy mother.”  At that moment she became Mother of the Church.  When we go to Mary, our Blessed Mother, in our needs, what she tells us is what she told the waiter at Cana: “Do whatever he tells you.”  For she knows that in following Christ and doing our heavenly Father’s will, we find true peace and happiness.
