… A Minute Meditation

November 20, 2009

Christ told Pilot “My kingdom is not of this world.”  What then do we pray for when we say “Thy kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven”?

God’s kingdom is one in which all of us stand in proper relationship to him and to one another.  It is a kingdom in which we recognize God as our Father and one another as brothers and sisters.  It is a kingdom based on love, which cannot harm the neighbor and so fulfills God’s law.  The kingdom of God Christ came to establish therefore, is a kingdom of “justice, truth and love” as the preface for the mass of Christ the King asserts.

God’s kingdom will come when his will is done on earth as it is in heaven. God’s kingdom will come about on earth only when divine love takes full possession of our hearts.
