… A Minute Meditation

November 27, 2009

We demand what we think we have a right to.  We ask to be given what we have no right to expect.  When we pray, “Give us this day our daily bread,” we are reminded that everything good is a gift from God.  When we think how generous God has been to us in giving us our life, our health, our talents, our family and friends, our training – and above all for his gifts of faith and for his grace – we are inspired to trust him more completely.  We are less inclined to be proud and self-satisfied, less apt to be carried away by our selfish desires.  We become more grateful, more compassionate, more desirous of simplicity in our lives.  We are content to ask God humbly to give us each day our daily bread and to let us be his instruments in feeding  those in need.
